The anticipation surrounding the reopening of the Golden Rooster Restaurant and Deli has been palpable for many Kingstonians. Saturday morning breakfast has become something of a ritual for my wife and I. The breakfasts are excellent. For me it is Bacon and Eggs (over EASY) with pan fried potatos. The bacon is to die for - thick - crispy - and tasty.. My wife is a huge fan of the "SPENCER" sandwhich (consisting of egg, bacon mayo and tomato) named after a rather robust employee of a downtown retail establishment who suggested it to the resturant. The Deli is the best in Kingston with a large selection of european meats and cheeses. I tasted their crostini at a funeral reception and was embarassed at having enjoyed something so wonderfully tasty at such a solemn occasion. After a long and excruciating wait while the restaurant underwent renovations the Golden Rooster is back.

The deli meat sandwiches are incredible! A huge stack of sliced (and weighed) meat.
The hot dishes for lunch are great too: my favourites are mac and cheese, lasagna, cabbage rolls, the lo-mein (a very popular dish), honey-garlic spare ribs, BBQ chicken (great in a sandwich), croquettes and meatballs, beef stew, and others.
Terrible, greasy, cold food. Not overly clean, the plates came with dried food from the last meal.
Long skinny lay out of the building combined with crowds of slow moving seniors takes away from the "atmosphere".
Staff not friendly at all.
I love coming to the Golden Rooster. I always go there for breakfast.. their cheddar scones are seriously to die for.. especially when you get them at 8:30 in the morning, they come right out of the oven and are fluffy and crisp.. delicious. I come with a family of five so we usually split their breakfast platter.. the homefries are fantastic and the eggs are just as good. The waitresses love my little sister and always give her toys and whatnot. Excellent place to go, and we will continue to go here for years to come.
I used to go here for lunch everyday until they moved our office. I love the variety and everything is fresh and delicious! Service is always great even when they're crazy busy. Fish and chips were awesome. I love the fries, but I usually don't get them because you have to wait. I will try to go back more often!!
