With a workshop resembling an engineer’s lair with its cables and components, and chairs inviting customers to strum on the guitars hanging from the walls, Eclectric Music + Audio is not your typical music store.
“It has to do with the weirdness of what I do,” Jonathan Dalton says of his shop’s portmanteau name and logo, which was designed by a friend who combined electric and eclectic in a cursive script that resembles writing on vintage Fender guitar amps.
Musically inclined, Jonathan learned the piano from his mother at the age of 10, before gravitating towards the guitar two years later. His degree in engineering has allowed him to troubleshoot any number of music related repairs. “I’m a technical person, a tinkerer, a hands-on guy who loves the nuts and bolts,” Jonathan says. It was only natural to open a store given how similar repairing musical equipment is to engineering. Both are methodological processes that require problem solving and patience.
Called the owner, told me he would get back to me regarding bringing some equipment by. Even texted him and didn't get back to me. Will be going elsewhere. 0/10 recommend.
