The nature of Lara Teoli’s photographs has changed over time. Her first career as a busy litigator saw her travel to the far reaches of the globe, capturing photos of architecture and buildings. When Lara got a dog, pets became the new subjects of choice. So when Lara’s first daughter was born in 2008, her lens was predictably redirected. “I couldn’t stop taking pictures of her,” she confesses. “I would just focus on her eyelashes. Or her little fingers. And that’s when I really started to explore children’s photography.”
When her second daughter was born in 2010, Lara sought a change from her high-demand work in litigation and left her career in law to pursue photography full-time. She started Modern Baby Photo in 2012, capturing moments from “belly to baby,” photographing pregnant moms, newborns, babies, children and young families in her bright and airy Christie Street studio.
